AFC Leopards could be on the brink of losing influential midfielder Whyvonne Isuza who is rumoured to be angling at a move to KPL moneybags Wazito FC.
The attacking midfielder has been at the club since his 2017 move from Mathare United.
He did not travel with the team to their pre-season camp in Mumias and Soka understands that he is seeking a release so as to join Wazito who are making a return to the topflight after last year’s demotion.
The rumours have further been strengthened by club chairman Dan Shikanda, who revealed via a video shared on the club’s Facebook handle on Sunday as the club was unveiling its latest recruits, that one player was seeking a release to join a “local club”.
“Today we have unveiled seven new players,” Shikanda said, “We believe their presence will give us a cutting edge as we embark on the new season.
“We expect to bring in two or three more players because we have lost three players (who we wanted to keep). Two to Europe and one is currently seeking a release to join a local club.”
If the said player seeking a release is Isuza, then it would be a big blow for Leopards as the Kenyan international has been one of the positive sparks of the team.
In the three years he has been at Leopards, Isuza has been a crucial component netting 24 times in the league as well as being part of the club’s return to the continental scene in 2018 thanks to the FKF Shield cup win the previous year.
