Bandari man belatedly named KPL’s best for the month of May

Bandari FC new signing Danson Namasaka Chetambe has been named Kenyan Premier League’s (KPL) best player for May, two months on after the conclusion of the 2018-19 season.

The attacking midfielder was feted on Monday 29 July for his exploits, on the final month of last season, for his former club Zoo FC whom he helped avoid relegation by finishing just a point above the drop zone.

He netted five times in nine matches for Zoo in last season’s congested league that was played inside six months.

Tough month

“I am so pleased to win this award. It was a tough month because we were fighting relegation, I am honored that my effort has been recognized today though not with Zoo but now at Bandari,” Chetambe said after receiving the award.

“I hope to carry on the good performance with Bandari and help the team win titles this season. It is going to be a tough season since we have the CAF Confederation Cup, the league, Super Cup and also defending the Shield. So far I enjoy my stay in Bandari and I promise our fans good results.” he added.

Chetambe, who finished with 10 goals in total and was one of the more sought out players in the current transfer window before landing at the coastal club, garnered 19 votes of the total cast with Tusker duo of Boniface Muchiri and David Majak finishing in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
