Wazito FC have on Tuesday 30 July confirmed the acquisition of striker Elvis Rupia who returns back to Kenya after spending a year in Zambia with Power Dynamos.
The club has however not revealed the duration of the deal though the player has been training with the team during the current off-season.
His signing makes him the third striker brought on board in the current window behind Derrick Otanga and Pistone Mutamba.
Popularly referred to by his peers as “Machapo”, Rupia cut short his stint with Nzoia Sugar midway through the 2018 season to join the pro ranks and at the time of his departure, was leading the top scorers chart with 15 goals following a blockbuster opening half of the season for The Millers.
He eventually finished 3rd in the race behind Jacques Tuyisenge and the season’s MVP winner Eric Kapaito who claimed the MVP award after netting 16 goals for Kariobangi Sharks.
Wazito have been on a recruitment spree as they aim to make their second return to the KPL more memorable than their 2018 debut. So far, the Fred Ambani coached side has brought on board eight players including AFCON squad member Bernard Odhiambo.
