Copa U16: Kobala the biggest winners in day one action

Kobala Girls registered the biggest win of the day as the Copa CocaCola Under 16 Tournament kicked off at the Kisumu Polytechnic on Tuesday 30th July.

On the boys’ side, Dagoretti High were the biggest winners as they thrashed Machakos Boys from Eastern 4-0 in the last game of the day.

Boys Wrap

Koyonzo 2-0 Gatamaiyu

Fred Okutoyi scored in the 10th minute for Koyonzo but it was ruled out for offside. They won a penalty in the 22nd minute after Allan Juma was brought down in the box. Wellington Andai sent Gatamaiyu custodian Frankline Karisa the wrong way to open the scores.

Arnold Bukasa doubled the lead ten minutes after the breather, beating two defenders to slot past Gatamaiyu custodian Frankline Karisa.

Goseta 0-2 Serani

After a goalless first half, Serani took control of the match and got their goals through Mwinyi Juma and Sufii Mohammed in the 41st and 51st minute of the match. 

Agoro Sare 0-1 Boys Town

Boys Town from Garissa shocked Agoro Sare by a solitary goal scored by Abdulahi Hussein in the second half.

Dagoretti High 4-0 Machakos Boys

Dagoretti High School thrashed Machakos Boys 4-0 in an entertaining match. Dandam Addis grabbed a brace while the other goals were scored by Kaiser Patrick and Baron Ochieng.

Girls Wrap

Wiyeta 3-0 Dagoretti Mixed

Captain Jamila Amida missed a glorious opportunity to put Wiyeta ahead in the 2nd minute after she found herself one on one with Dagoretti Mixed custodian Sarah Onyango but she placed her shot inches wide.

She made amends in the 3rd minute and doubled the lead quarter hour mark, rounding Onyango off to score. Edina Wanda completed the job with a fine finish, 10 minutes after the restart.

Njambini 3-0 Ugari Girls

Grace Njambi gave Ugari an early lead in the 3rd minute and Evelyn Onyango scored a brace in the 50th and 57th minute as Njambini beat Ugari Girls from Migori County 3-0.

Maeni 3-2 Waa

Maeni Girls from Bungoma beat Waa Girls from Coast 3-2 in an entertaining match. Monicah Nakamu grabbed a brace in the 3rd and 58th minute for Maeni while Noela Oruko scored the other in the 49th minute. Waa Girls got their goals through Mwanajuma Mwandoro and Taiba Sheikh in the 4th and and 34th minute respectively.

Kobala 8-0 Itaara

Kobala Girls from Nyanza registered the biggest win of the day, edging Itaara Girls from Eastern 8-0 in the last Girls match of the day.

Masika Merciline opened the scoring in the 2nd minute. Yvonne Andalia doubled the lead in the 13th minute with a powerful volley from the edge of the box and Awino Sharon made it 3-0 just two minutes later.

Beverline Achieng scored five minutes after the restart to make it 4-0 and Andalia scored her second of the day in the 53rd minute with Irene Mwende scoring the sixth just a minute later. Second half substitute Mercy Sidi grabbed a brace in the 67th and 70th minute to complete the job for Kobala.
