Nyakach Girls and Itigo Girls will face off once more in this year’s Copa U19 Girls football championships after registering wins in their respective semi-final matches played today- Friday 2nd at the Kisumu Boys High School.
Nyakach, playing against Western Region champions Arch Bishop Njenga Girls, recorded a 2-0 win courtesy of Mercy Akoth’s brace in the second half. The two had been tied at the break with the breakthrough coming just minutes after the resumption.
Itigo, on the other hand, sailed past Njabini Girls with a gallant 3-0 win over the Central region champions to also book a slot in the final.
After a barren first half, the floodgates opened for Itigo through Viky Korir, scorin in the 49th minute. Daisy Jerop would make it 2-0 ten minutes later.
In a bid to find footing in the game, Njabini lost all their remaining grasp as Korir completed her brace in the 70th minute and Kenya U20 striker Martha Amunyolete also struck late for a convincing 4-0 win for the Rift Valley champions.
Itigo takes on Nyakach in the final set for Saturday 3rd. they had won1-0 in the group stages through a Hellen Mulupi goal.
