The Tanzania national team, Taifa Stars is in the country well in time for the 2020 African Nations Championships (CHAN) qualifier return leg against Kenya and they have vowed to knock out Harambee Stars in the Sunday 4 August clash.
The two nations played to a barren draw in the first leg in Dar es Salaam on Sunday 28 July, to leave the two legged tie balanced and Tanzania are confident the tide will blow in their favor.
Taifa Stars checked in on Friday 2 August and were received by Tanzanian fans and journalists at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Speaking there, head coach Etiene Ndayigajire and skipper John Bocco exuded confidence that they will progress.
“We have worked on our shortcomings (from the first leg) and we have also improved on the positives. We will be going to CHAN,” the coach declared.
As for the skipper, he is hoping the team reaps on the confidence it carries to the match, but just like his coach, he said the team will for sure get the needed result here and go all the way to the CHAN finals.
Go all the way
“The team morale is good; we are here to fight for our chance in the next stage and to go all the way is our ambition. We failed to score in the first leg but that doesn’t mean we will not score here.
“We are ready to fight because we know it will be tough. We want to do this for Tanzanians and I am sure we will progress,” Bocco noted.
The aggregate winner in this tie will face Sudan in the second and final round of qualifiers.
