Timbe helps Renhe snap losing streak in slow outing for Kenyan Stars abroad

Only a handful of Kenyan Stars plying their trades in various leagues abroad got the chance to feature for their clubs over the past weekend.

Michael Olunga and Ayub Timbe both featured for Kahiwa Reysol and Beijing Renhe in Japan and China respectively with Olunga helping his team to a dominant win.

The lanky forward clocked 83 minutes as Kashiwa brushed aside Ryukyu 5-1 at home on Sunday to ascend to the summit of the J2 league.

Eight goals

Though he did not score in the game to stretch his scoreless run to two games, Olunga has netted eight times in the league this season in 17 appearances.

In China, Ayub Timbe helped Beijing Renhe snap an eight game losing streak with a 1-1 draw away to Shenzhen on Friday.

Timbe, who is yet to score for his team in six appearances since returning from injury, clocked 82 minutes.

The draw still leaves Renhe rooted at the bottom of the 16 team league in danger of suffering the drop after 21 rounds of play.

Elsewhere in Europe, both Erick Johanna and Johanna Omollo were unused substitutes as Bromma FC (Sweden) and Cercle Brugge (Belgium) suffered losses.

Bromma lost to promotion chasing Brage to remain at the bottom of the Swedish 2nd division with 14 points after 18 matches while Brugge fell 3-1 away to Oostende to suffer their second straight loss of the 2019-20 Belgian topflight season that kicked off last week.
