Nicholas Muyoti’s Kakamega Homeboyz FC side heads to Kisumu on Friday 9 August for a scheduled preseason contest against home side Kisumu All Stars from 4 pm.
All Stars, a new entrant into the Kenyan Premier League, has been busy in the transfer window- roping in as enough experience as they deem sufficient to stay afloat in the premier competition that kicks-off on August 31st.
Homeboyz, on the other hand, finished a club-high 7th position in the 2018-19 season and haven’t been very busy in the transfer business. Very few exits too were experienced at the Kakamega based side. To boost Muyoti’s already wide squad will be former Chemelil Sugar duo of Mahiga Vincent and Charles Okiya.
Stephen Etyang follows Muyoti from Nzoia Sugar while the duo of Stephen Wakhanya and Christopher Masinza join from Vihiga United.
Noah Wafula, who did a brief stint with the side before venturing west to Uganda and then back to Tusker, is also rumored to be back with the side.
Their opponents today- All Stars, have maintained a considerable number of players from the lot that earned promotion into the top flight. Nonetheless, seasoned names have had to come into Henry Omino’s side and Maxwell Onyango from SoNy Sugar and Martin Oduor from Western Stima are good examples.
All Stars have also handed contracts to youngsters Elisha Owino, Patrick Otieno, Stephen Otieno, Mark Kwasira, Jeconia Ogendo, and Arthur Ochung.
For their league openers, today’s home team will host Ulinzi Stars on August 31st while Homeboyz play host to AFC Leopards a day later.
The two teams will lock horns from 4 pm in a clash that will charge Ksh50 at the gates.
