Seven to stay behind as Gor Mahia starts continental charge

Kenyan Premier League (KPL) giants Gor Mahia will on Saturday 10 August leave for Burundi with 15 players and five officials, for their CAF Champions League preliminary round clash against Aigle Noir set for Sunday 11 August, but without a number of key players.

As confirmed on the club’s official portal, new signings Gnamien Yikpei, Maurice Ojwang and Francis Afriyie will all miss the game as a result of having been registered late.

Injuries and suspension

Also out of the trip is Kenyan international Philemon Otieno, as well as new signing Curtis Wekesa and Dennis Oliech, all with injury. Ernest Wendo is suspended for the clash and as such also misses out.

Newly signed keeper David Mapigano is in the team along with Fredrick Odhiambo while Shafik Batambuze, who has recovered from injury is also included.

The team is set to leave for Bujumbura at 4pm EAT.
