Gor Mahia players, coaches dominate SJAK 2018/19 KPL season nominees list

The 2018/19 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) season nominees for the SJAK (Sports Journalists Association of Kenya) Awards have been released ahead of the official awards ceremony that will be held on Monday 19 August.

The Awards, took a back seat in 2018 as both SJAK and KPL merged for that year’s KPL Awards.

Record KPL champions, Gor Mahia dominate this year’s nominations with current and former players, coaches included.

Immediate former coach Hassan Oktay, has been nominated in the Coaches category for his exploits of leading K’Ogallo to their 18th league title.

Former Sony Sugar tactician Patrick Odhiambo and now Gor Mahia assistant has been nominated too after leading the millers to an impressive 5th placed finish last season.

In the MVP category Francis Kahata, now with Simba SC of Tanzania, and Joash Onyango have been named in the six man shortlist which also has Ulinzi Stars’ Enosh Ochieng, veteran striker Allan Wanga and Ugandan forward Umaru Kasumba, with the latter two players having finished behind Enosh in the golden boot race.
