Vihiga Queens reclaim top spot, a sour weekend for Kisumu All Starlets, Eldoret Falcons

Braces from Topistar Stimu and Terry Engesha on Sunday 11th saw defending Kenyan Women Premier League champions Vihiga Queens return to the top spot after a lengthy spell away from the summit as Alex Alumirah’s charges did a 4-0 rampage against Kayole Starlet.

Having already won 7-0 on Saturday against Mathare United Women FC, Queens made it a clean weekend with a second resounding result against Starlet who had in fact dispatched Eldoret Falcons 3-2 a day before.

Kisumu All Starlets, for the first time in the season, fell in two successive matches- first, a 3-2 goalfest pitting the Kisumu side and Kibera Girls Soccer Academy on Saturday at the Stima members’ club and later fell 2-1 at the hands of Makolanders on Sunday.

Makolanders had themselves taken a narrow 1-0 slip against Gaspo Youth on Saturday.

2016 champions Thika Queens meanwhile were only active once over the weekend- an away trip to Mathare United Women FC and they kept their title hopes alive with a 2-0 win.

On their way back home after a Saturday loss to Kayole Starlet, Eldoret Falcons were felled once more in Naivasha by Oserian Ladies FC.
