Former Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Sofapaka have secured the signing of Cersidy Carrick Okeyo and Timonah Wanyonyi and assistant coach John Baraza is confident they are great acquisitions.
Okeyo, from Gor Mahia and Wanyonyi signed from Mount Kenya United have been with the team for a few days now and Baraza acknowledges that they have fitted well in the Sofapaka fabric.
Fill the gaps
Having finished third last season, and with a number of top players leaving the team, Sofapaka will be looking to keep their high place in Kenyan football while at the same time filling the gaps left and Baraza is confident the two will have just the needed impact.
“We assessed them and they have been with us for some time now and I feel they have gelled well. They can add the needed boost to the team.
“Though Mount Kenya United was relegated, we all saw Wanyonyi’s impact; he was a key player for them and we hope he brings here the same. As for Carrick, he has played for some of the big teams around and he is very talented though lacked just play time,” he said.
The team continued with preparations for the new season with a 1 – 1 draw against National Super League (NSL).
