Harambee Starlets will face off against a familiar foe in Ethiopia this Saturday 17 August in a friendly match set for the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos and ahead of the match, head coach David Ouma has talked up his team’s readiness as well as expectations.
Ouma believes the team has prepared well enough and is ready for the friendly after reporting for residential training on Monday.
“We have put in a lot of effort in training and it’s now time for me to assess how well my players can perform,” said coach Ouma.
Kenya and Ethiopia faced off as recently as 2018 at the regional CECAFA Women’s tournament in Rwanda and Ouma knows exactly what to expect from Saturday’s opponents.
“Ethiopia is a good side. We lost to them at the CECAFA Women Championships last year in Rwanda so it will be an end to end affair. We are going to attack and I’m confident we’ll give a positive result,” he added.
The friendly match will act as a build-up for the upcoming 2020 Olympics qualifier against Malawi set to be played later on this month.
