Nairobi City Stars, today- Wednesday 21st concluded their Western Region camp with two pre-season friendly matches against the top two Kisumu teams in Western Stima FC and Kisumu All Stars.
City, who have spent a week in Kakamega for their 2019-20 National Super League campaign preps, played All Stars form 9 am in the morning and later on locked horns with the more seasoned top-flight side Stima in the evening.
The early morning contest ended square- a barren stalemate against Henry Omino’s charges and it is the second that promised more thrill as most of City’s new signings had been rested for just that one task in the afternoon.
Five goals were scored between Stima and City- the home side grabbing the win through former SoNy Sugar and Tusker man Robert Achema’s last-minute effort.
Left fullback Joel Abaliwano had given Stima the lead in the first half, but this was canceled by David Gateri for 1-1 few minutes after the resumption.
Stima then went ahead after former Kariobangi Sharks man Henry Juma forced City keeper into an error- one that saw him tuck the ball into his own net. Veteran defender Noah Abich responded with a header from a Wesley Onguso throw-in for 2-2.
Robert Achema would then show up for the final goal- a decisive effort that also saw the end of the day’s action. 3-2 it ended in favor of Stima.
