Former Black Stars striker Agogo dies aged 40

Former Ghana Black Stars striker Junior Agogo has died aged 40 due to what is believed to be complications from a stroke he suffered back in 2015.

Agogo, passed away on Thursday 22 August at a London hospital with his former clubs, including Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest confirming the news via social media.

The burly forward, suffered a stroke back in 2015, just two years into retirement and struggled with his speech as well as movement in his right arm.

Agogo scored four goals at the 2008 AFCON finals including the winner against arch-rivals Nigeria in the tournament’s quarter-finals

Capped 27 times by Ghana, the former Nottingham Forest, QPR and Zamalek forward scored 12 times for the West African nation and helped them finish third at the 2008 AFCON finals on home soil.
