CECAFA U20: Okumbi picks team to start preps for regional tourney

Preparations are on for the 2019 CECAFA U20 tournament which will be staged in Uganda starting Saturday 14 September and the Kenya U20 national team head coach Stanley Okumbi has called up 41 players to the provisional squad from which he will pick his team.

Kariobangi Sharks goalkeeper Brian Bwire and Musa Masika of Wazito will be the stars in the team, having already attracted senior team call ups before, while Aspire Academy forward Ronald Shichenje and Richard Odada of Red Star Belgrade are also included.

KPL experience

Ulinzi Stars midfielder John Njuguna, Brian Wepo of Nzoia Sugar, Joshua Nyatini of Wazito and Kariobangi Sharks’ Tom Teka are among the Kenyan Premier League players called up to the side.

The team will start preparations for the tournament on Tuesday 3 September in Nairobi.
