KPL 2019/20: Rangers stun Sofa in Narok as Sharks-Stima share spoils in Machakos

The 2019-20 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) season kicked off on Friday 30 August with two matches of the scheduled nine of the opening round being played in Machakos and Narok.

Posta Rangers claimed the first win of the new season as they came from behind to defeat Sofapaka 2-1 at the Narok Stadium while Kariobangi Sharks and Western Stima played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Goals from Gershon Likonoh and new signing Eliud Lokuwam in the second half sealed all three points for Rangers as they came back against Batoto Ba Mungu who had led through an Eli Asieche penalty in the opening stanza.

In the other game of the day, Stima earned their first points away to Kariobangi Sharks since the two teams first met in the league in 2017 courtesy of goals from Ken Owino and goal keeper Samuel Abawa with Sharks getting their goals through Eric Kapaito and new signing Patrick Otieno.
