Mathare – Bandari fire blanks at Ruaraka as KCB cruise in Awendo against Sony Sugar

The new 2019-20 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) season served up yet another stalemate as Mathare United and Bandari FC played to a 0-0 draw in the two teams’ opening round fixture played on Saturday 31 August at the Ruaraka Stadium in Nairobi.

The draw is the third in the five games that have been played thus far in the season and the first that has not produced any goals. In the early kickoff of the day, Wazito FC and Nzoia Sugar played to a 1-1 draw in Machakos while Kariobangi Sharks and Western Stima produced the first stalemate of the season with an entertaining 2-all draw at the MISC Kasarani on Friday.

For Bandari, the point comes at an expense as winger Hassan Abdallah suffered an injury and was rushed to hospital immediately after the halftime whistle.

The game also saw Bandari give league debuts to two of their off season signings in Cliff Kasuti and Danson Chetambe both players clocking atleast an hour for the coastal outfit.

In another match played on Saturday, KCB FC claimed all three points away to Sony Sugar at the Awendo Green Stadium with a comfortable 3-0 win.

New signings Stephen Waruru, Dennis Odhiambo and Enock Agwanda delivered the goals to give new Bankers head coach Zedekiah Zico Otieno the perfect start.
