Etyang starts, Masinza and Kibwana on the bench as Homeboyz name squad for Leopards season opener

Kakamega Homeboyz will begin their 2019-20 KPL season with a home fixture against AFC Leopards set for the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega on Sunday 1 September and head coach Nicholas Muyoti has named his starting squad that will see several of the team’s new recruits given the chance to impress.

,New signing from Bungoma based Nzoia Sugar, Stephen Etyang, has been handed a start for Sunday’s game that is set for a 3PM kickoff and will be part of a seasoned offensive line led by veteran forward Allan Wanga with attacking midfielder Ali Bai and young winger Peter Thiong’o in support.

Debut starters

Andrew Waiswa, brought onboard from Sony Sugar, is the other player set to make his debut from the start.

Homeboyz have not been explosive with their transfer dealings this off-season and have only tweaked their squad, that finished 7th in last season’s campaign, just slightly.

Compared to his counterpart Andre Cassa Mbungo, who has started six new signings for this tie, Muyoti has maintained with largely the same squad from last season with some of his new additions being named as part of a strong supporting cast from the bench.

Below is the squad;

Starting XI: David Juma (GK), Kennedy Onyango, Andrew Waiswa, George Oduor, Festus Okiring Peter Thiong’o, Stephen Etyang, Moses Chikati, Ali Ibai, David Okoth, Allan Wanga
