Lethal Ayunga tops the scoring charts after fine start to season

After a number of moves over the past few years, Kenyan forward Jonah Ayunga seems to have found his form at Havant & Waterloovile FC in the English fifth tier, National League. After Match Day 9, the 22 – year old is the leading scorer in the league.

Having started in eight of the nine matches, and appearing in one as a substitute, Ayunga tops the charts with eight goals. The latest of his two goals came on Wednesday 4 September, as he scored a brace in the 3 – 1 win over Hungerford Town.

Third brace

It was the third time this season that Ayunga has scored twice, and it took his goal tally for the team to 10 in 13 matches, having scored twice in his earlier stint at the team in the first half of the 2018/19 season on losn from Sutton United.

He is a goal better than second placed Ross Lafayette of Wealdstone and three ahead of Jacob Mendy, also of Wealdstone.

Ayunga’s team is second on the log on 19 points, five below leaders Wealdstone after nine matches.
