Robert Ojienda has been named the new head coach at Migori Youth Football Club just two matches into the season with the former Homa Bay All Stars tactician part of a new four-man technical bench officially announced on Wednesday 11 September.
Ojienda, a Kisumu Youth Football Academy (KYFA)-trained coach, will be assisted by Gor Mahia legend Kevin Oluoch whose last active involvement in the game was as captain of SoNy Sugar FC last season.
”We at Migori Youth are happy to welcome to our Technical Bench Robert Ojienda (former Sony player) and Kevin Oluoch ( former Gor Mahia player ) as the coach and first assistant coaches. Sammy Oremo is the second assistant coach with Shem Wema as the Team Manager,” reads an official statement by the Awendo based National Super League (NSL) club.
The youthful side lost its opening two fixtures of the 2019-20 NSL campaign- first, a 3-1 loss on the road to Vihiga United and second, a 2-0 humbling at home by Bidco United.
They next travel to Coast Stima where Ojienda meets a former classmate at the KYFA in Paul Ogai who currently manages the Coastal Powermen.
The club is hopeful that the new duo will help the club achieve its goals.
“We are optimistic that they will help the club achieve its objectives of building young players and help expose their talents in the National Super League,” continues the club statement.
Migori Youth are currently one place off the bottom and will take on Coast Stima at the Mbaraki Sports Club on Friday 13 September.
