WPL: Thika Queens and Trans Nzoia Falcons record biggest win over the weekend

The Football Kenya Federation Women Premier League (WPL) resumed over the weekend with matches staged on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15
September across the country.

Thika Queens came off tops with a massive 6-2 win over Trans Nzoia Falcons at Thika Stadium, and 4 – 0 over Zetech Sparks on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

Against Trans Nzoia Falcons, Thika captain Fauzia Omar scored in the 17th and 47th minutes before Mwanahalima Adam added to the goals in the 56th and 66th minutes to add onto goals from Lucy Ikhumba who scored in the 33rd minute and Salome Akoth in 80th minute.

Falcons got their consolation goals through Irene Khasanti in the 61st minute and Martha Amunyolete in 80th minute.

Biggest winners

Falcons would, however, atone for their Saturday loss with a 7-2 win over Makolanders on Sunday at Camp Toyoyo making them the biggest winners in the Sunday schedule.

Tumaini Waliaula was the star of the day, netting a hat-trick in the 32nd, 70th, and 85th minutes, with Irene Khasanti scoring the second goal in the 63rd minute and later Millicent Ayuma in 83rd minute with Martha Amunyolete in the 84th and 86th minutes also getting their names on the score sheet.

Consolation goals  

Hosts Makolanders’ goals were netted by Lonya Any in the 74th minute and Adhiambo Shann in the 76th minute.

Vihiga Queens, in the meantime, beat Wadadia 5-0 to cap a high scoring weekend.

Terry Engesha opened the scores in the 22nd minute, with Topister Situma netting Vihiga’s second a minute before half time. Cynthia Shilwatso netted two upon resumption, in the 47th and 79th minutes, with Topister grabbing her brace in stoppage time to seal the win.
