AFC Leopards adds to Wazito misery as Kisumu All Stars struggles continue

After a loss and a draw in their opening two matches of the 2019/20 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) campaign, AFC Leopards got to winning ways, sinking Wazito FC 1 – 0 at Bukhungu Stadium on Saturday 21 September.

John Mark Makwata scored the game’s only goal, after he was felled in the box by Wazito defender Bernard Ochieng. While it looked very soft a tackle, the referee had made his call.

Makwata stepped up to take the spot kick and did well to send goalkeeper Kevin Omondi the wrong way, getting his first goal of the season, and AFC Leopards’ first of the campaign too.

Still searching

The result left Wazito still searching for their opening win of the season, three matches in, despite assembling a massively experienced team after earning promotion at the end of last season.

Meanwhile, another newly promoted side, Kisumu All Stars, stumbled for the second straight home match, falling 0 – 2 to visiting Nzoia Sugar at the Moi Stadium, Kisumu.

All Stars are yet to score a goal in the season; they fell 0 – 2 to Ulinzi Stars on the opening weekend and played to a barren draw with KCB on the second.
