Kakamega Homeboyz FC made mincemeat of visiting Kariobangi Sharks FC at the Bukhungu Stadium on Sunday 22nd with an emphatic 3-0 win over the Nairobi side- a Kenyan Premier League fixture hosted from 3 pm Kenyan time.
Homeboyz- still reeling from their dropping of points against Posta Rangers last week, got proceedings going in just the 23rd minuted with center-back Kennedy Onyango latching onto a David Okoth corner Kick to fire in the opener.
Sharks pressed for an equalizer before the break but could not find their way past the host defense as Nicholas Muyoti’s men headed into the breather with their 1-0 lead.
Upon resumption, it was the captain’s show as Allan Wanga compounded to Sharks woes in the 52nd minute with a towering header from a deliciously struck free-kick by Festus Okiring.
Fifteen minutes later- the former Kenyan International would complete his brace from the spot after a handball in the Sharks 18-yard area.
Stephen Etyang had struck a 66th-minute corner kick which was well met by Kennedy Onyango with a header that went right into Erik Kapaito’s hands. The referee wasted no time pointing to the spot and Wanga buried for 3-0.
It would end this way as Homeboyz stay undefeated after three rounds of Kenyan Premier League matches.
At the Narok County Stadium, Brian Nyakan was on a brace as Sofapaka flogged visiting Chemelil Sugar FC 4-0. Former Gor Mahia forward Timona Wanyonyi was the first on the mark in the 28th minute followed by an Elli Asieche penalty at the hour mark.
The 2-0 lead then set the stage for Brian Nyakan whose brace in the 77th and 93rd minutes earned Batoto Ba Mungu a huge week 3 win.
2016 champions Tusker FC were out in Kericho and had to come from behind to dispatch hosts Zoo FC 2-1.
An own goal from center-back Rodgers Aloro had unsettled coach Robert Matano’s men at the hour mark but they fought back through skipper Timothy Otieno’s leveler on 79 minutes and new signing Luke Namanda’s injury-time brilliance for 2-1.
