Four – time Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Ulinzi Stars will hope for a big lift following their fall to Mathare United on Match Day 3, on Saturday 21 September but will have some big injury news to deal with ahead of their match against Sony Sugar.
Head coach Benjamin Nyangweso will be without a number of key players yet again for the Saturday 28 September clash after his skipper James Saruni, and Ibrahim Shambi joined in the growing injury list.
The two join newly signed Cyril Nasiali and Brian Birgen who have not tasted league action so far in the season, locked out with injury.
As revealed by the team’s doctor, John Imboywa on the club site, Saruni is out with an ankle injury that will lock him out for a month while Shambi is set to miss out for about a week, with a heel injury.
One more week
Meanwhile, Birgen, who has been out with an ankle injury for the opening three weeks of the season is set to sit out one more week, while Nasiali, on a calf muscle strain is still under observation and hasn’t resumed training after making it to the bench on the opening weekend.
However, Omar Mbongi, another player locked out of the opening three weeks of the season, is back in training and in contention for a place in the weekend game.
