Uganda put 20 past Comoros in COSAFA whitewash

The Uganda U17 girls’ national team produced a stunning result at the ongoing COSAFA U17 tournament in Mauritius by walloping their counterparts from Comoros 20-0 in the two nations’ final group stage fixture played on Tuesday 24 September.

A hapless Comoros side conceded 14 goals in the first half alone with captain Juliet Nalukenge helping herself to seven goals which place her as the clear favourite to claim the golden boot as she now has 14 goals to her name.

Heavy loss

The result though is not the heaviest that has been witnessed at the tournament thus far with South Africa thumping Seychelles 28-0 over the weekend.

Uganda, who are featuring in the Southern African regional tournament as guests, begun the tournament on a slow note, drawing 1-1 with Zambia before turning on the style for their second fixture where they put 11 past Mauritius with Nalukenge, who has scored in each and every game, managing six goals.

Uganda now qualifies for the semi-finals of the tournament where they will await their opponents to be determined when the group stage match-ups conclude on Wednesday.
