CECAFA U20: Kenya trounce Ethiopia to book Quarters slot

Kenya are through to the quarter-finals of the ongoing CECAFA U20 championships after concluding their group stage matches with a dominant 4-0 whitewash of Ethiopia on Thursday 26 September.

Goals from Steve Otieno, Austine Otieno, John Njuguna and Benson Ochieng powered Stanley Okumbi’s charges to the win at the FUFA Technical Centre grounds in Jinja Uganda that sees the Rising Stars conclude Group B with seven points.

Stars had won against Zanzibar in their opening match, beating the islanders 5-0 before being held to a 2-2 draw by Tanzania.

Austine Otieno’s goal on Thursday lifts his tally to three as well as making him the only player from the squad to have scored in each and every game.

Kenya will now await the outcome of the match between Tanzania and Zanzibar (currently ongoing) to know if they will claim the group. Tanzania have four points while Zanzibar have three.
