The Kenya U20 national team- the Rising Stars have drawn Burundi’s U20 unit for their quarter-final tie at the ongoing CECAFA U20 Championships in Uganda in Njeru.
Despite finishing level on points with Tanzania- Fair Play rule awarded Tanzania the top spot having accumulated less number of cards as compared to Stanley Okumbi’s boys hence the Burundi draw.
The Rising Stars won their opening encounter against Zanzibar, a 6-0 flogging but drew 2-2 with Tanzania. They would, however, bounce back against Ethiopia in their final tie of the group to with a 4-0 whipping of the young Antelopes.
The other quarter-final draws have hosts Uganda facing off
with Tanzania in what is arguably the hottest quarter-final clash. The two play
South Sudan have their big brothers Sudan in the quarters and will renew their rivalry in Gulu too.
The final quarters’ match is between Eritrea and Zanzibar and will be played in Njeru.
