Olunga on a brace as Kashiwa maintain lead in Japan

Michael Olunga scored a brace for his side Kashiwa Reysol as they beat Tokyo Verdy 3-0 on Saturday 28 September in the Japanese second tier.

The Kenyan international notched his goals in the 27th and 39th minutes to help Reysol register their 20th win of the season that sees them maintain top spot in the J2 with 69 points. Brazilian forward Christiano da Silva added a third goal with 10 minutes remaining on the clock.

Best return

Olunga is having his best return in front of goal ever since he joined the pro-ranks and currently has 16 goals for the Yellow and Black in 21 starts, lying 5th in the golden boot race just four goals adrift.

Eight more matches remain before the season concludes and Reysol need five more wins to be assured of automatic promotion.
