Fredrick Odhiambo starts as Gor Mahia name squad for USM Alger tie

Gor Mahia head coach Steven Pollack has made two changes to the side that faced-off against USM Alger in the first-leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary clash a fortnight ago, for the return-leg that has been set for Sunday 28 September at the MISC Kasarani from 4PM CAT.

The tactician has given starts to keeper Fredrick Odiambo and defender Maurice Ojwang’ for the do or die clash that is the last hurdle for both teams to try and reach this season’s CAF Champions League group stages.

Gor slumped to a 4-1 loss in the first-leg in Algiers and now need to win by three clear goals if they are to make it to the group stages for the first time in the club’s history.

In the first leg, Tanzanian custodian Robert Mapigano stood between the sticks and was faulted by many for the goals that K’Ogalo conceded.

Odhiambo’s return to the starting line-up makes today’s game his first appearance of the season.

Ojwang’ on his part replaces Charles Momanyi who drops to the bench with the former Western Stima man making his second appearance after playing in the 2-1 league win over KCB.

On the other end of the pitch, the onslaught for goals will be led by Nicholas Kipkirui with captain Kenneth Muguna, Boniface Omondi and Dickson Ambundo in support.

Below is the squad;

Starting XI: Fredrick Odhiambo (GK), Wellington Ochieng, Maurice Ojwang, Joash Onyango, Geoffrey Ochieng, Lawrence Juma, Tobias Otieno, Boniface Omondi, Dickson Ambundo, Kenneth Muguna, Nicholas Kipkirui

Subs: Robert Mapigano (GK), Joachim Oluoch, Charles Momanyi, Ernest Wendo
