Gor Mahia have been dumped out of the CAF Champions League by Algerian side USM Algier, who claimed a 2-0 win in the two sides’ return-leg fixture of the final qualifying round for the tournament’s group stages, played at the MISC Kasarani on Sunday 29 September.
The result sees the Algerian side qualify for the group stages proper with a heavy 6-1 aggregate score thanks to a dominant 4-1 victory in the first-leg tie held a fortnight ago in Algiers.
Striker Aymen Mahious grabbed both goals on Sunday netting in the 3rd and 16th minutes.
The loss for K’Ogalo means that their hopes of making it to the group stages of Africa’s premier club competition for the first time in the club’s history, have been halted as they now drop down to the CAF Confederations Cup.
