Since grabbing a sublime double on the opening weekend of the season against Gor Mahia, Tusker FC’s Boniface Muchiri has not been in action for the club since and head coach Robert Matano has confessed that he doesn’t know where the winger is.
Muchiri has been linked with a move to the USA since last season and it could be that the deal has finally materialized. But it seems rather odd that his coach does not know his whereabouts.
Asked in the build-up to Saturday’s league game against Sofapaka about Muchiri’s whereabouts, the former Ulinzi Stars tactician revealed that he does not know where the former Sony Sugar man is though he does know that he is out of the country.
Not in Kenya
He said, “Muchiri is not in Kenya and cannot be in my team now even (for Sofa game). I don’t know where he is. I am the coach but I have no idea where he is. I am still looking for him also.
“Muchiri has not been with us since the Gor Mahia game and so I am not thinking about him now. My concentration is with the players that I have but if he returns we will think about him and bring him back into the fold,” Matano concluded.
Muchiri grabbed the headlines last season with a breakout campaign in front of goal that saw him net 12 times for the brewers as they finished 4th.
It is during this season that rumours started to surface about a potential move to the USA to a club that is yet to be revealed.
