The Kenya national team, Harambee Stars squad for the upcoming friendly match against Mozambique on Sunday 13 October has been named, with head coach Francis Kimanzi making a number of bold omissions and call ups.
For starters, goalkeeper Patrick Matasi, who has for a while now been the first choice is left out of the squad, with Zambia based Ian Otieno, and Ulinzi Stars’ Timothy Odhiambo handed call ups along with Yanga SC shot stopper Farouk Shikhalo.
Former Gor Mahia skipper Harun Shakava makes a return to the team after a lengthy spell out as does JS Kabilye forward Masud Juma, while Hillary Wandera of Tusker is also handed a call.
Skipper Victor Wanyama returns after missing the friendly match against Uganda while there is no place in the team for Ayub Timbe who starred in the Uganda friendly.
Midfielder Eric Johanna and goalkeeper John Oyemba are also left out but Joseph Okumu returns while Samuel Olwande will be hoping for his second cap after featuring in the Uganda friendly.
Zesco United’s Anthony Akumu and Jesse Were are named in the 32-man team also.
The team will go to camp on October 7 to start preparations for the clash.
