Gor Mahia Football Club has moved to the top of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) standings after a 2-0 win over Nzoia Sugar in the two teams’ rescheduled tie played at the Mumias Sports Complex on Wednesday 2 October.
Kenneth Muguna netted a first-half double to secure the win that sees Steven Pollack’s charges move to nine points at the top of the log with three matches played.
Muguna wrapped up his brace within the first half-hour, netting with a shot from just inside the area and second coming from a pinpoint freekick.
Having suffered a humiliating exit from the CAF Champions League over the weekend, Gor produced the right response with victory over the sugar millers to maintain their perfect start to the season.
Nzoia on their part drop to 13th place on the log with four points, unable to replicate their 2-0 win over Kisumu All Stars last time out.
