Moses Mwangi made his first appearance of the season for Ulinzi Stars over the weekend and what an appearance it was as the diminutive winger came on in the second half to inspire the soldiers to a 3-1 win over Sony Sugar on Saturday 26 September.
The former Kariobangi Sharks youngster was introduced at halftime with Ulinzi trailing 1-0 and scored to make it 2-1, much to the delight of head coach Benjamin Nyangweso who has urged the player to show more focus and maintain with the same effect as on Saturday.
“Mwas was outstanding, and I think we all saw what the contribution in the rise from a goal down. The most important thing is that he aided the team win, but he has also set a challenge for himself and he has to keep up with the standard,” Nyangweso is quoted as saying on the club’s website.
“He boosted the attack and went on to score and I think if he can sustain that kind of performance, he will be a key player for us.”
The win over the millers was the second in four matches this season for the four time Kenyan champions, who now 6th on the standings with seven points.
They next face off against second on the log Western Stima on Saturday in Kisumu, a venue that has been kind to them in recent outings and it is where they kicked off the season with a 2-0 win over league debutants Kisumu All Stars.
