The Kenya U20 National team, Rising Stars head coach Stanley Okumbi knows it will not be an easy walk when his charges troop out to take on Tanzania for the 2019 CECAFA U20 Championships final in Uganda.
The team saw off Eritrea 1 – 0 in the second semi final to book their place against Tanzania with Yoseif Mebrahtu scoring an own goal off a Patrick Otieno cross.
The final on Saturday 5 October will not be the first time the two nations face off in this tournament; they played to a 2 – 2 draw in Group B and it will be interesting to see how this one plays out.
Okumbi lauded his boys for the effort and determination shown from the beginning and he is confident that his charges won’t disappoint at the last hurdle.
“I must congratulate the boys for showing great character in all the matches we have played. The semifinal (against Eritrea) was specifically tougher but my players played their hearts out, and I am pleased with the outcome,” said Okumbi on Football Kenya Federation website
“We have an even tougher challenge in the final and I am confident that if we give a good account of ourselves as we have done since the tournament started, we can take home a positive result,” he added.
The final will be staged at the FUFA Technical Center starting at 4 pm.
