Round 5 Schedule: Stima seek a temporary home in Mumias as Leopards travel to Awendo

The 2019-20 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) season enters round 5 today- Saturday 5th with 9 matches lined up across the weekend, 6 of those are played today.

The first of the day is set to be played at the Awendo Green Stadium where AFC Leopards visit the sugar millers SoNy Sugar FC from 1 pm, their last meeting at this venue- it will be remembered had to be rescheduled, first due to heavy downpour, and second due to the lack of an ambulance. Leopards head there placed 4th on the log having won their last two matches. Their hosts, on the other hand, will be desperate to get off the bottom three.

Chemelil Sugar hosts Kariobangi Sharks from 2 pm, two sides that haven’t been reaping anything in the way of goals in their previous matches. Chemelil- hosts for today, have in fact instead soaked in eight-goal in just their last two matches. There will have to breakthrough for either of the sides as regards goals- or both.

Another 2 pm fixture plays out in Machakos as Kisumu All Stars continue their quest for a first win. They already have their first goal but will have to do more than score a goal, to at least get a win over Posta Rangers who just two days ago, held continental reps Bandari FC at their own turf in Mombasa.

Western Stima FC have taken their third home match to the Mumias Sports Complex after the Moi Stadium in Kisumu had been booked by the county’s government so they play a home match away from home- and against an Ulinzi Stars side that have won two of their opening four matches. Stima will, however, bank on their superb form that even places them at 3rd on the 18-team log. The two play from 2 pm.

One of the mouth-watering fixtures lined up for Saturday is Mathare United’s face-off with Wazito FC. Two sides that are adequately equipped with tact, face off from 3 pm at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani, with Wazito looking to make the most of their recent first victory. Mathare, on the other hand, has only won once, but are yet to taste defeat. The two lie back-to-back on the table with the SlumBoys sitting at 9th and just one point above the Moneybags.

Nzoia, active in the midweek against champions Gor Mahia (and losing 2-0) take on a side that has only lost once (again to Gor Mahia) but were 2-1 winners over Kakamega Homeboyz in their last outing.
