The 2019 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) elections will be conducted in utmost honesty and professionalism, the Electoral Board chairman Prof. Edwin Wamukoya declared on Tuesday 8 October at the FKF Goal Project offices, as he rolled out the official electioneering period.
Flanked by four other members of the board – Eunice Lumalas (who will act as the board secretary), Elina Shiveka, Abdi Said and Robert Nyakundi, Wamukoya released the timelines for the polls, which are expected to come to a close on Saturday 7 December.
Wamukoya acknowledged the huge task ahead but, guided by FIFA and CAF statutes, stated confidence in his team’s ability to handle the polls, as he called on the aspirants seeking to throw in their hats, to comply fully to the requirements that will guide the process.
“There are guidelines for this whole process and these are rules that must be followed to make this whole process a success. As a board, we have a capable team and I want to assure Kenyans that this board has the needed integrity and will handle this process like it should.
“To the candidates, all we are calling for is compliance to these guidelines, which are set by consideration of CAF and FIFA statutes. We will have a code of regulations on the official electoral board website which will be interactive, and I urge all to follow them,” he noted.
In the order rolled out by the board, the official nomination period for all other elective posts other than the National Executive Committee (NEC) members and Presidential, commences on Monday 14 October, with the verification of candidates for NEC and Presidential positions set to start on Tuesday 22 October.
The final list of candidates will be published on Saturday 2 November ahead of the polls set for 7 December.
