WPL: Trans Nzoia claim the bragging rights in Falcons’ derby

Trans Nzoia Falcons opened the 27th round of action in the Women Premier League with a bang, trouncing Eldoret Falcons 6 – 0 on Saturday 12 October at Manor Agricultural Center.

Hosts Trans Nzoia Falcons opened the scoring proceedings in the 26th minute through Neddy Lavender, they would then win a penalty and Irene Khasati did well from 18 yards out to double her team’s lead in the 40th minute.

Second half

Susan Muhonja netted the third in the 57th minute and completed her brace in 81st minute, then Lydia Chebet and Caren Nangila left it late to seal the win with goals in the 90th and 92nd minutes.

Trans Nzoia Falcons will still be in action on Sunday 13 October, as they host Mathare United Women at Manor Agricultural Center starting 1 pm EAT.

Gaspo Youth

Meanwhile, league leaders Gaspo Youth, also registered a massive win at Ruiru Grounds, thrashing Zetech Sparks 5 – 1 to affirm their dominance in the league.

A seventh minute goal from Teresia Maleve set Gaspo on course to three points and Winnie Kanyotu, Wincate Nkaari ensured they went to the break leading with goals in the 31st and 35th minutes.

Elizabeth Mutikiza grabbed a second half brace in the 55th and 77th minutes and Alukwe Anyetu got a consolation goal for Zetech in the 78th minute.

Oserian white-wash

Elsewhere, defending champions Vihiga Queens registered a 4 – 0 thumping of Oserian Ladies with braces from Kenyan internationals Terry Engesha and Cynthia Shilwatso.

Vihiga Queens will play their second match of the weekend on Sunday 13 October away to Kisumu All Starlets at Moi Stadium, Kisumu

At Camp Toyoyo, relegation threatened Spedag stayed at the bottom of the log after being knocked out by Makolanders 2-1 on the same day.
