The Mambas of Mozambique produced a slim 1-0 win over Kenya in the two teams’ International friendly fixture played at the MISC Kasarani on Sunday 13 October.
Substitute Amancio Canhembe struck the decisive goal in the 69th minute, weaving his way past the Harambee Stars defence and eventually slotting past Farouk Shikhalo.
Stars will rue the chances created that went beging in the opening stanza that could have easily seen the hosts surge to at least a 3-0 lead inside the first 30 minutes.
Michael Olunga had two attempts inside the opening minutes. One of which was a one on one situation on 15 minutes but a rare situation of indecisiveness from the Japan based forward, saw him opt to wait for his teammates to arrive for support rather than have an attempt at goal.
Earning a rare start on the wing, Cliff Nyakeya also came close to breaking the deadlock but his well struck shot from just inside the area struck the Mozambican keeper’s chest before he quickly gathered the ball before Olunga could get to the rebound.
The half was more Kenya with the visitors okay with playing on the break with most of their forays going forward being orchestrated by Witness Quembo.
