The 2019 FKF electioneering period has officially begun with Monday 14 October seeing the nominations period, for positions aside from the Presidential one, kickoff with aspiring candidates from the North Eastern and Coast regions the first to submit their nomination papers to the Electoral Board at the FKF Goal Project offices.
The nomination process will run until Saturday 19 with the preliminary list of candidates for each and every position set to be released on Tuesday 22.
Free and Fair
South Coast Branch Secretary Lillian Kazungu, who is vying for the branch’s Chairperson position enthused belief that the Electoral Board, led by Prof. Edwin Wamukoya, will do a just job and conduct free and fair elections.
She said, “I will be contesting the FKF Mombasa County Branch Chairperson seat. I believe I have what it takes. The nomination process has been flawless. I have confidence in the board that they will conduct a free and fair election.”
Tuesday will see aspirants from Mandera, Marsabit, Isiolo, Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Embu, Kitui, and Machakos present their papers to the board with those from Makueni, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Turkana, and West Pokot doing so on Wednesday.
The nomination period for the presidential candidates and the NEC members will begin shortly after the final preliminary list of the other candidates has been confirmed on October 22nd.
A one week period has been set to hear disputes that might arise following the confirmation of the final list of candidates with the Electoral Board and Appeals Committee given until October 30th to give their final rulings.
The final list of candidates for all positions will be announced on November 20th.
The same process will be followed for the eligibility of voters whose final list is expected to be announced on November 21, two days ahead of the county elections which will be conducted on the 23rd.
