KCB FC picked a point in their Match Day 6 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) clash against Ulinzi Stars at the Afraha Stadium on Saturday 19 October after the two played out a barren draw.
In a game of few chances, both sides had near misses, with Enosh Ochieng hitting the post in the opening half before Enock Agwanda had a goal disallowed for offside.
A wet afternoon in Nakuru set the precursor for a game without much goal mouth action in the opening exchanges as the two sides dwelt more in midfield battles.
It was until deep in the first half that the game opened up with Kelvin Thairu, starting his first game at Ulinzi Stars, setting Enosh through on goal and the striker beat keeper Joseph Okoth well with a low drive, only to see his attempt bounce off the post in the 24th minute.
In the 26th minute, it was KCB’s time to attack and as they went forward in numbers, they managed to get the ball in the net, Enock Agwanda beating goalkeeper Timothy Odhiambo but his efforts came to null as the assistant referee’s flag was high up for offside.
The Bankers did have a penalty shout as the game drew towards half time after the ball struck Brian Birgen in the arm before the defender cleared for a throw ball, but referee Anthony Ogwayo had none of it.
Ulinzi Stars dominated matters in the second half but were never at ease whenever KCB attacked, pushing numbers upfront. In the end it was all even, the teams gaining additional one point each.
A second straight 0-0 draw saw Ulinzi Stars drop to 10th place on nine points while KCB goes down one place to fourth on 11 points after six matches.
