Mathare United will take on Kisumu All Stars on Saturday 19 October in round 6 of the KPL in Kisumu and ahead of the game, winger Tyson Otieno believes the Slumboys are in for a tough outing despite All Stars experiencing a torrid debut campaign in the top tier.
All Stars have managed only one point from their opening five fixtures and lie second from bottom. Like many clubs in the country at the moment, All Stars have been plagued by financial uncertainties and it is this reason and not a lack of quality that has seen Henry Omino’s charges perform so dismally according to Otieno.
“All Stars are struggling due to off-pitch issues but not lack of quality,” the former Baba Dogo United player is quoted on the club’s official portal as saying.
He therefore expects his team to toil for the win if they are to get it as All Stars will be difficult to beat in front of their own fans where they will be keen to notch their first win of the season.
“They are playing at home and are also looking for their first win of the season, this will give them extra motivation. We have prepared adequately and we will focus on ourselves not what All Stars are experiencing on and off the pitch,” he added.
Despite being unbeaten, Salim Ali’s charges are also struggling for wins and have only managed one in their five matches.
Saturday’s fixture, set for a 3PM kickoff, will be the first ever meeting between these two sides.
