Kenyan Premier League (KPL) moneybags Wazito FC have now parted ways with former Coach Fred Ambani and former Technical Director Stanley Okumbi ‘on mutual consent’. This comes days after the two were asked to step down from their positions in what the club attributes to dismal performance.
According to the club’s official website, the two leave on mutual consent and will have their place taken up by former assistant coach Hamisi Mohammed on an interim basis.
The club’s chief executive officer Dennis Gicheru confirmed this development earlier today.
”I would like to thank coach Ambani and coach Okumbi for their great service to the club. They did a tremendous job during their time here and we wish them all the best,” says a statement on the club’s website.
Wazito’s troubles continued over the weekend, taking a 4-2 wallop from Kakamega Homeboyz, and this result keeps them in the 13th position in the 18-team KPL table standings.
Despite recording their first win of the season four weeks ago against Zoo FC, the newbies were not able to keep their newfound faith and drew against Mathare United in the next before taking their recent fall to Homeboyz. They next play Posta Rangers FC.
