Ulinzi Stars will be facing off with AFC Leopards on Match Day 8 of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) home to one player who really made a name for himself while at the team – Mark Makwata and ahead of the clash, Ulinzi coach Benjamin Nyangweso has termed the strike a big threat.
Heading to the round, Makwata is the leading scorer with five goals as he seeks another Golden Boot gong, having initially won it in 2015 at Ulinzi Stars, and under coach Nyangweso.
Makwata also heads to the game days after being named the Player of the Month for August/September and Nyangweso acknowledges that his form will sure be a concern when the two sides meet.
However, with one of the best defensive sides in the league, Nyangweso is confident his charges can cope well with the threat, while he is also banking on his knowledge of the player in question.
“Makwata is a great player; he is a big threat to any team he faces and he is currently enjoying fine form. If not watched, he can cause damage. The advantage we have in this is that we know him well and we have a very good defence that will deal with his threat.
Dealing with Leopards
“Ahead of this game we have already faced big strikers so we know very well what to expect going to this clash. Furthermore, we will be dealing with Leopards as a team and not just Makwata. So I believe we’ll be fine,” he said.
Last season, Ulinzi Stars picked a 1 – 0 win in the corresponding fixture, with Daniel Waweru scoring the only goal with a long range effort.
