Kenyan quartet handed Bangui job as AFCON qualifiers take off

The qualification process for the 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) proper starts in the second week of November 2019 and the Confederation of African Football has already made appointments for referees to handle the matches.

Four Kenyans are among the match officials handed duty in the first round of qualifiers. They will be traveling down west to Bangui to take charge of the Central Africa Republic versus Burundi game, on Wednesday 13 November.

Anthony Juma Ogwayo will run matters in the game, as the center referee. He will be assisted by Gilbert Kipkoech Cheruiyot as the first deputy and Mary Wanjiru Njoroge as the second.

Andrew Juma Otieno will take the reserve referee’s position.

The Group E game is scheduled to kick off at 4pm EAT.

Egypt v Kenya

In the same qualifiers, Kenya will be traveling to Egypt to start their Group G campaign against The Pharaohs on Thursday 14 November. The match officials for this match have also been picked.

Cameroonian Alioum Alioum will be in charge as the center referee for the match at the Borg el Arab Stadium in Alexandria. Elvis Guy Noupue and Sanda Oumarou will be his assistants while Blaise Yuven Ngwa will serve as the fourth official.

The match is slated to start at 7pm EAT.
