Kakamega Homeboyz and Sofapaka Football Clubs played to an entertaining two-all draw at a rain-soaked Bukhungu Stadium on Sunday 3rd, a round 8 of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match played from 4 pm instead of the initial 3 pm schedule due to the rains.
A brace from Peter Lwassa was evened out by Moses Chikati and Ahmed Ali Bai goals to see the clash end square.
After a one-hour delay, the match kicked off and it was Peter Lwassa striking the opener in the second minute of the game. The playing conditions favoured no one in particular and the hosts Homeboyz found it difficult to lunge back.
It took Homeboyz the entire first half to finally break through past Ismail Watenga. Moses Chikati’s long-range kick forward was miscalculated by the Ugandan goalie and it went all the way in. This was in the 45th minute.
Barely a minute of play had gone when Ahmed Ali Bai struck the second, a beauty from outside the 18-yard area to make it 2-1. The hosts went into the break with the lead.
In the second half, Lwassa came for his brace after five minutes and cooly headed home an Elli Asieche corner kick for 2-2.
Neither team could grab the winner.
The draw keeps Homeboyz in 5th position while Sofapaka stay in 12th.
In an earlier clash, Zoo FC edged Kariobangi Sharks by a solitary goal. Only these two matches were played on Sunday.
