The long wait for a financial sponsor for the National Super League (NSL) seems to have come to an end as Football Kenya Federation (FKF) are set to announce a yet to be reviled “leading betting firm” as the league’s title sponsor.
The partnership will be announced on Tuesday 12 November at an event at the Radisson Hotel in Westlands.
The good news comes just two months after the league lost its broadcasting partner Bamba Sport who pulled out of their three year Kshs 30m deal signed in 2017, sighting the economic ripple effects brought on from the standoff being witnessed between government and the betting industry.
The impasse has also hit the KPL who also lost SportPesa as its title sponsor and recently there were calls to have the league halted from some of the league’s stakeholders until a sponsor is found.
Local football has in the past years been hit by financial difficulties with clubs finding it hard to run their day to day activities to the extent of some of them granting walkovers.
