Kisumu All Stars left it late to pick their first win of the season, beating Kariobangi Sharks 1-0 at the lakeside city of Kisumu in a Match Day 9 clash on Saturday 9 November.
Meanwhile, Tusker FC rallied from a goal down, scoring deep in added time to hold KCB to a 1-1 draw in another Match Day 9 clash staged at the Afraha Stadium on the same day.
In Kisumu, it was all headed to shared spoils until Kariobangi Sharks defender Amani Kyata netted an own goal in the 89th minute, to see the clash shift in the home team’s favor.
All Stars, newly promoted to the league, leaps one place up, to 16th, at the expense of Sony Sugar, with six points from nine matches. Meanwhile, Sharks, who have also managed just one win in the season, are 15th on seven points.
At Afraha Stadium in Nakuru, Reagan Ochieng gave KCB the lead in the 14th minute and the Bankers managed to hold on to the lead until late when a handball in the box in the fourth minute of the five added handed Tusker a penalty.
Timothy Otieno stepped up and converted it well to ensure a share of the spoils, which also denied KCB the chance to rise to the summit of the league standings.
As a result, the Bankers remain static on the log, at fourth, with 15 points, same as AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia, who face off on Sunday, while Tusker opens a two-point gap at the top.
