All Stars edge Wazito in Kisumu

Kisumu All Stars have this afternoon dispatched Wazito FC by two goals to nil in a round 10 Kenyan Premier League match played at the Moi Stadium from 3 pm Kenyan time.

Despite bossing huge portions of the game, Mellis Medo’s charges were undone by two goals from Gerrishom Arabe and Eric Otieno that handed All Stars their second win of the season.

All Stars goalkeeper Geoffrey Were was forced into early action by Wazito’s twin striking of Derrick Onyango and Piston Mutamba. In just the 3rd minute, Mutamba found himself on a one versus one against Were but his shot was within reach for Were who punched it out for a corner. Derrick was up next, three minutes later and Were was again called up to action.

The visitors bossed possession in the opening half-hour but found little space in the final third, with Henry Omino’s men cautiously working round the clock to thwart all attempts to trouble Were in goal.

All Stars, who mainly relied on breaks in the first half, could have taken the lead with just one minute left to play but his shot from outside the box was well collected by Kevin Omondi in goal for Wazito.

The two went into the break tied.

In the second half, Wazito handled the ball in their area with barely five minutes of the second half played. Gerrishom Arabe stepped up to send the hosts into the lead.

It got worse for the moneybags when substitute Eric Otieno’s corner kick was unattended and it went right to the back of the net for 2-0.

All Stars then defended with their lives to seal a deserved 2-0 win.
